Walton Historical Society

Preserving the best of yesterday for its enjoyment tomorrow

Current Display

August 10th - November 20th – The current theme at the Walton Historical Society is “School Days”.
We have pictures of Townsend School, the Bartlett House, The Ivy Tower, Miller Avenue and Stockton Avenue Schools. Rural one room schools are also displayed with miniature replicas of Marvin Hollow and Mt Pleasant school houses.

The main focus has been individual classes from the Ivy Towers with the first class of 1893 through the early 1900’s up to the class of 1965 and 1969.

Most yearbooks are on display from the very first in 1948 -1990 and a few school newspapers: Our Tattler and Wal-Hi Lingos. Early school sports delighted many a fan, primarily boys football and girls basketball. The girls wore skirts down to their ankles. It’s been a very popular display and has been held over for early fall. I think it safe to say that Walton Alumni are proud of their school, past and present.
